Scrum for Hardware and Systems Design

Meet you instructor,

Professor David G. Ullman,

ASME Life Fellow

I am an Emeritus Professor of Mechanical Design from Oregon State University. I have professionally designed fluid/thermal, control, and transportation systems. I have published many many papers focused on understanding the mechanical product design process and the development of tools to support it. I hold a Masters degree in Aerospace engineering from the University of Cincinnati, and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Ohio State University. Over the years I have taught design process best practices to over 2500 students.

I am the founder of the American Society Mechanical Engineers (ASME)—Design Theory and Methodology Committee and am a Life Fellow in the ASME.

I have written three books on the design process. The first “The Mechanical Design Process” has been in print since 1992 with the sixth edition published in 2017. It is used in many universities world-wide to teach the design process to mechanical engineers. It is compendium of design process best practices and has been read by over 35,000 students and practitioners.

The second is a set of case studies co-written by me and practicing engineers about their successful use of design best practices.

The third is my most recent book and the basis for this course. It was published in early 2019. All these books are available at a reasonable price from Amazon, Barnes and Nobel or other book sellers. See details on all three books at www.mechdesignprocess.com
